Game Interface Design

UX/UI Design
Game Interface

For the Game Interface Design project, I chose to recreate the UI of one of my favorite games, Death Stranding. I was particularly inspired by the game’s futuristic, holographic HUD style and aimed to capture its unique visual language. Using Figma, I designed key screens including the opening screen, an in-game gameplay interface, and a pause/menu screen featuring the map. This project allowed me to explore how immersive design elements can enhance storytelling and player experience, while also challenging me to maintain clarity and usability within a stylized interface.

Project

Before diving into the high-fidelity design, I created a set of wireframe screens to establish the layout and structure of the game’s interface. This step helped me plan the placement of menus, icons, and HUD elements more effectively, making the transition to the final design smoother and more accurate.

For this project, my goal was to closely replicate the interface of Death Stranding as it appears in the actual game. I focused on recreating the game’s distinctive holographic HUD by using techniques like background blur around shapes and UI elements to mimic its futuristic display. I also implemented in-game icons such as the boots and canteen to maintain visual consistency with the original interface. For icons that were difficult to replicate exactly, I designed custom alternatives that closely matched the style and tone of the originals. To ensure accuracy in layout and placement, I used gameplay screenshots I captured while playing the game. These references helped me position menus, icons, and HUD elements as precisely as possible.
